A tribute to the Class of 2008

Enjoy half price wines every Monday.

Learn the techniques of this time-honored art form using a variety of tools and stone.  The stone carving classes are taught by master stone carvers, Marvin Johnson and Joseph Sovella. No prior experience is necessary.  This class is open to all skill levels ranging from beginners to advanced.  Enjoy working outdoors sculpting stone into forms of almost any size or shape. Superior technical skills are taught as part of the art process as both Joe and Marv pass on years of knowledge to their students. Sovella has taught at Laguna College since 1986 and Johnson since 1992. This annual, locally-based fundraiser is put on by the Laguna Board of Realtors & Affiliates with the help of local galleries, artists, merchants, top area restaurants, and people of our community to help raise funds to support the dedicated work done by several of our community’s non-profit organizations. This year’s recipients are Laguna Beach Community Clinic,  First Thursday’s Art Walk, The Friendship Shelter, four Laguna Beach High School Art Scholarships,  Laguna Beach Live!, La Playa, Sally’s Fund, American Associations of University Women-Foundation and the Laguna College of Art & Design. Enjoy a night of fine art and exquisite tasting dishes from several of the area’s best restaurants to create an evening of appreciation, music, drink and laughter under the stars.

The Laguna Beach Film Society is delighted to present Divergence. A wounded soldier returning from Iraq finds solace in the arms of a mysterious and beautiful woman.  Divergence is a story of how America has struggled since 9/11; and, with the war in Iraq. It’s a tale of two wounded people coming together and grappling with the ramifications of war and loss.

While the technology to make reproductions exist, Plumb has only released two lithographs of her work, Melrose Avenue and Sunset Blvd.  These pieces are seven color lithographs on Papier D’Arches printed and hand proofed at Atelier Ettinger in New York City.  Each piece is limited to an edition of 500 and the plates have been effaced.  To date, Plumb is not ready to part with the originals, so they remain in her personal collection.

Join them for their Anniversary weekend, dedicated to celebrating the spirit of creativity. They begin Friday night with a ceremony and tribute to their son Tyeson, whom they lost two years ago. They will celebrate his birthday and reveal a new foundation formed in Tyeson's name.
